No. I’ll just use another format. I’ve been trying .OBJ but it’s tough without any animation. I’d love to use MD2, but the darn blender exporter doesn’t work. Is there an AC3D loader with named node support?

AC3D doesn’t support animcation either. I’m almost certain that it does copy the shape name from the AC3D model into the userData on the object though. It should be fairly easy to modify the AC3DModel classes (The renderer specific ones) to get Shape3Ds with userData of a particular string.

I REALLY think somebody (maybe me, maybe another, somebody of the blender community) should fix all the .OBJ, .MD2, .MD3, .3DS and .ASE exporters/importers, add them features and include them in the official blender build.
That would be really good.
