Better yet, have it on github and have the download link point to the latest version. Then the link will never be out-of-date.
OP, you can try using the “parent” directory. Try “./maps/map1.txt” (Periods are very crucial while working in… different file systems. Like macs.)
When using the W, A, S, D controls, it’s possible to move on top of a wall tile by moving up.
This bug only presents when using W, A, S, D controls and once on top of the wall tile the only place it seems I can move is back onto the grass.
You need to download the latest version, 1.1 for this bug to be fixed. I’m sorry if this confused you.
That is a bug. It will be fixed in the release of Alpha 1.2 (Coming out Wednesday-ish).
Ok, will do. Thanks for the feedback.
Mazer Alpha 1.2 has been released! (A day early!)
Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r7k5a7su5v9epir/MazerAlpha1.2.zip
New Features:
-
Building blocks (grass and stone), for people who like to make maps.
-
Zombie Cows! (Sadly, just the graphic for it.)
-
Heart system!
-
A Easter Egg! Hint: Press C! (I’d like to hear if any of you know what I’m referring to!)
Removed Features:
- WSAD controls. They were too buggy. (May be re-added in the future)
Any suggestions, comments, and/or feedback can be posted here or sent by PM to me.
Actually, I included the map1.txt so you could make your own maps. A guide for this is above. The way the code is structured, including another pre-made map with the game would require a lot of unnecessary code. Thanks for the feedback, however, and have fun!
Not to mean offensive, but thinking of mods for an incomplete game?
Yes actually. I prefer user generated content to my own. I myself think that the textures and map I have supplied are horrible. That’s why I’m including them so people can make them better if they want. No offense taken.
Any ideas for Alpha 1.3?
GUI, and Level editor
A main menu where you can load all the maps/txt map files and play whatever level you want without having to rewrite the level.
Thank you for your suggestions. These are things I need to get around to, and they will turn up in the next version.
I had some time over the weekend, and I decided to revisit Mazer and improve on it. The result was Mazer 1.3. A change log is below:
New Features:
-
Better Graphics (Re-did the grass texture, as well as the zombie cow and spikes texture)
-
If your player touches the spikes or zombie cow, you now go back to the start.
Removed Features:
-
All those useless blocks. I mean, what was I thinking? (You know, dirt, water, stone…)
-
Hearts. They were too buggy.
