Just got the lwjgl site to repair now, it’s on another disk though which I have to get theplanet to plug back in. Hopefully back online tonight, and then we’ll figure out where to move everything after it’s all settled.

Check out Webfaction as a new host. Something between shared and VPS - you get a standard unix account, cool admin tools, many things work out of the box + you can compile & run pretty much anything you want on your own. Support is top notch, not from 3rd party know-nothings following scripts to get rid of you
Backups are easy with RSnapshot. Almost like Time Machine, heh.
if you want, i can offer a free hosting account with standard LAMP setup via dreamhost.
hmm
Yes, it’s still buggered Last time I rely on magic.

#Vote for VPS (including Backup via Shell Scripts)
Can we at least get the domain name pointing at the LWJGL Sourceforge page until the site comes back up ?
It would at least allow people to get the lwjgl download packages, access svn, grab the javadoc and put a stop to the constant stream of questions on the irc channel about LWJGL’s demise.

tried logging in the other day - but doesn’t seem like my key is working yet
Right now just a skeleton install on the server. I’m going to have a stab at getting lwjgl.org back now.

Good news or bad news?
Good news - the mysql db is intact and the forums survive. Hurrah!
Bad news - I can’t seem to find the rest of the website.
How would you like to proceed?

rebuild it! make it bigger and better than ever before (hmm, I cant remember where that quote is from

I have ‘somekind’ of backup … but I’d still need my public key installed.
I guess we’ll need a new forum setup then … and the wiki is sorta gone ?
Isn’t there any backup (server) provided by the hosting company?
Yes, looks like the Wiki has gone Unless it was stored in MySQL.
No, the hosting company didn’t have any backup, or rather we couldn’t afford to pay for it.
I’m in favour of setting up a brand new VPS for LWJGL with a new IP address and building from scratch there, and uploading the forum database to that.

I agree. Is there anyone cheaper than linode? - and do we exceed their bandwidth usage? (200 GB for their 20$ plan).
We may have to let the extension jnlp stuff go
Well the wiki was mostly out of date anyway, however there was still lots of useful information on there.
Luckily almost all of it can be rebuilt back from google cache (provided the cache stays up).
My friend has something at about 20EU for a full Virtual server with 1T of traffic per month in Germany. I have emailed about details. I think 20EU per month for 200Gig without SLA is not so good these days.
I reckon the LWJGL site and forums would do perfectly fine on shared webhosting like Dreamhost.
Is there really much advantage going for full VPS in this case?
I meant to also add that I have cleared my desk of a lot of things lately and can donate time if needed. I use Linux 24/7
