-Secret doors and passages added to several dungeons. Sometimes they can be a shortcut to the deepest parts of the dungeon, sometimes reveal chambers with hidden loot…
I have been looking at the traps and they’re annoying. Usually I am told I stepped in one where I am surrounded by Bandits that I am fighting, there’s no way I could see the trap och even read about spotting them in the combat log.
Also, Adam spotted some traps on to step into them right after (classic Adaon).
And once Adaon spotted a trap whilst unconscious on the ground, which leads me to think he was just faking the injury to avoid combat (again, classic Adaon).
Perhaps a visual que could be added so that I could spot the traps earlier? I like the idea of the traps but right now it feels a bit too random.
I tried the traps in Lannegar mine and the Bandit hideout.
Yeah, the AI is still stupid and runs into traps, I haven’t upgraded it to take into account little things like that.
Dead/incapacitated characters shouldn’t ever collide with anything or detect anything… thanks for catching that one.
It is true that, atm, they’re rather difficult to avoid I will show some particle effect like I do with secret doors. I may eventually increase the detection chance, but before balancing that I am goign to wait until I implement the character stats and new trap-related skills, which will probably mean that rogues will become much better than currently at detecting stuff, and their AI will make them deactivate the traps too.
New version crashed with a file not found on data/portraits/male/0.png
Edit: After that, I can’t even load my game anymore, because it crashed instantly with this exception. That’s a pity, because I actually have some free time to play it now…I just can’t…
I’ll try to fix it really fast . Weird, because several people are playing.
EDIT: no crash in console… if you get a chance, please open it again and click report if the button appears.
SECOND EDIT: uploading to Google Play. I think I found it. However it is a “default” texture when the right portrait is not found… weird error, if you get a black portrait with an interrogation mark, please tell me where it happened.
Oh, well…I’ve already downloaded and started it before reading this, so…
Anyway, it worked fine with the new version and I didn’t see any missing textures or interrogation marks either. I was close to that tower fighting some spiders when it happened. I don’t see why the app wanted to render some portrait at that stage.
In my engine, any Game Entity can be asked to provide a portrait, not just NPCs. Loot bags have a fixed one, doors that don’t autoopen, the same, notices, containers, everything capable of interaction has a getPortrait() method. However it shouldn’t be called if it has no interaction/conversation, and if it does have one, it should have a portrait. In any case, I am logging that “not found portrait” call now, so when it happens, I’ll know.
So I spotted something weird today, when I get to Kingsbridge sometimes Grisela is a man. If I then leave (for example go to New Garand and stay at the inn there) and come back she’s back to looking how she looked the first time I met her.
(already fixed in 0.5.800. In one of the last versions, I added sprite index caching to all entities, and in the case of companions, it needed to be refreshed and I forgot.)
Well, I couple thing have happened – I had a crash that either corrupted my game save or was caused by such corruption (I was unable to report at the time because my internet was down all last week, but I did go to a relatives house to send crash reports from trying to load that game.
Also, I’ve found that resuing Aadon leads to stuff disappearing – I don’t know if this is supposed to happen (he robbed me) or is a bug caused by running out of inventory space (which is looked like), but either way I’m wish my fighter had done like my rogue and let him rot now.
There have been a few crashy builds these last weeks, but nothing that should ever make you lose stuff…
I got no crash reports all week, not sure what’s going on with google play console
EDIT: got the crashes, was a resources loading error that I fixed in .797, and that really has no risk of harming your savegame.
In any case, you should never, ever, lose items equipped on a companion. Companion should always spawn with them on, so maybe there was a bug that somehow made they spawn unequipped or with their base stuff. I am going to test that code thoroughly, please send me any details you remember on how it happened exactly. For instance, what items were lost (armor, weapon) or what you just did (dismissed him, then asked him to join again?). Anything that can help me reproduce the error, because item-losing bugs are unacceptable in RPGs, and this is the first I have.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for the report. I can remotely give you your stuff back, so anytime just email me what items were lost and your char’s name, and I’ll add a fix for you in my “patching” file for next update.
Spotted a weird artifact by the Orc stronghold south east (?) Of Kingstride. It looked like I was up on the palisade, also the loot dropped by an Orc also appeared “up there”.
