It’s simple for me. I don’t have a DS, I want one, I’m not going to buy out of date technology for the sake of 50 quid.

That, I perfectly understand. To me, I’d like to have one more DS for local multiplayer games. If I spend at least 140$ then I’m better spending for the best of what’s offered and DS Lite is now deprecated because of DSi.
And mine is old enough now that I’m practically in the same boat.
Day one! Black DSi. Very, very nice!
Still too expensive! Just to keep this thread alive. ;D
Seriously, what is very very nice?
I got one today. The case is a very weird matte black, but the better screens are nice.
Hopefully it’ll be able to handle my wlan at home. =)
The cameras are entertaining, but very very low quality. It’s probably not worth buying unless you HAVE to have one.

Like I said earlier, the cameras are used very mostly as toys. Only a few games use it to date and the results are not concluding:
The gesture tracking isn’t good enough:
The use of photos in this one is really gimmick:
I’m pretty sure Nintendo is cooking some great games that use the camera and once again we’ll be wowing the innovation but for now I’m not really convinced.
About user created content like the use of memo pad for example, I’m eager to see how games will incorporate that content.
Well, if you recall the launch of the first DS, all of the game press was stating that the 2 screens were nothing more than a gimmick and could not understand how Nintendo thought they would ever be successful with this
The Opera browser is very nice, the screens are beautiful, if low rez, and you can set up multiple WiFi connections to handle both WEP and WPA so, regardless of what kind of wifi network you are close to, you can connect without having to switch between the two.
Yes the camera are gimmicky, but my kids and I had a ton of fun yesterday playing around with them.
The DSi store is nicely done and am saving my 1000 points for something better than what is offered at the launch.
The MP3 playback is great and the music tool is really cool!
Also, just anticipating what is coming down the road in DSi specific games. 256MB RAM and 130MHz processor vs. the 4MB and 66MHz processor in the DSLite, we should see some very interesting stuff coming…
Very, very nice

well
I’ll wait to see those cool and expected games unique to DSi. There’re supposed to be 3 types of cards depending on the targeted features/hardware. There’s really something up there. And yes the upgraded CPU and memory are promising too.
No way man, there are a lot of disadvantages to the DSi
like missing GBA slot and stuff
Then please elaborate because you have very few arguments. You’re “no way man” reply isn’t strong, really.
He’s clearly joking.
Bad things:
The casing is pretty horrible. It’s matte, so there are no fingerprints, but it’s TOO matte… so if you, say, get flour on it, you’ll spend a long time trying to get it off.
Just by having my black DSi in my pocket for a couple of days, it’s gone all cloudy-gray-but-still-mostly-black. Basically, it looks like one of those rapid prototyping deals.
The lack of a GBA is definitely a downside, as I have about ten billion GBA games.

Doh! Once again in my life I’m too serious!

Well, it depends if you’re a gamer who likes to replay games, and particularly GBA ones. Of course for great games it’s always a pleasure to replay them but there’re so many great games on the market, and especially for DS, then I simply have a difficult time choosing the next one I’ll buy and play.
