Everything lol. If you can afford it, it may be easier on you to just reduce the contrast in each frame programmatically instead of going through and changing the sprites.
Ok, thanks for the feedback! I’ll look into that and see if I can figure it out. I definitely don’t want to go back and change all the sprites (again, lol), but if it’s too hard on the eyes then something must be done.
I have been chugging along on level 4, where you are supposed to be up in the mountains. The first act is a sidescrolling platformer, the second act is a space invadersish clone, and the third act is another attempt at 3rd person. Here’s some screen shots of those acts:
I made a new demo video that is a lot better quality than the last one (because my sister helped me make it lol). Hope you guys enjoy. If anyone is interested and wants the newest build let me know and I’ll put it up.
Here’s some updates on the game. First, I decided to change the cover again. The blocky characters looked horrible on the cover. Next, I decided to scrap the whole first act of the last level because it just wasn’t very fun. I re-did that act, and here are some screen shots:
I also re-mapped the buttons for the arcade cabinet last week and played through the whole game so far. It’s pretty fun to play your own game on an arcade cabinet! This project is almost done, and here are some updated download links to the newest build:
Here are a few screen shots from the last level. I basically have to program the last boss battle, then do some bug fixes, then this game is done and I can finally move on to something new that’s not programmed so crappily ;D
Pic 1:
Pic 2: The sky is pink because during this level, it turns into night time so the pink is part of the sunset transition. Then you fight the boss during the nighttime.
As I gear up to release this game, I made a facebook page: @fabulousfellini
And a twitter page: @fabulousfellini
Tomorrow, I may make a sub-reddit, but that has yet to be decided.
I have been fixing minor bugs, then playing through the game, then fixing more minor bugs, then having my friends or wife play through the game. Rinse and repeat. I’m also going to try to polish a few of the graphics up before I put it up on itch.io.
Here’s a video of the pseudo 3d part:

As always, you can download it at www.fabulousfellini.com if you would like to try it out and give me some feedback.
I wanted to share one more video with you guys of part of level 4. It’s basically Space Invaders. This game has a few mini arcade clones so I could try to figure out how to program them which was a cool learning experience, plus made things interesting by not doing side scrolling platforming the whole time. I think I almost have all the bugs out, so that’s good. @Sralse I think the falling through the floor in the snow part is for sure fixed to.
Thanks for trying it! As for the music, no it is not mutable right now/yet. I have not decided if I’m going to put that feature in. For the controls, the S button is actually jump and the space button is to throw. I know that is kind of weird, but I thought it was pretty comfortable for playing the game because you can leave both your hands in the same position the whole time and not make large jumps to try to bash, jump and throw all at the same time.
I think I have an official trailer now. I’m pretty sure I’m going to release this game next week. There were a few bugs which I do not want to f**k with, like when you beat the game and want to play again, a lot of stuff doesn’t get reset correctly due to massive, massive spaghetti. I got passed/past? that problem by simply making the game quit after you beat it lol. I can’t wait to start my next game where that wont be a problem. But this game was all about learning, and I’m glad I stuck it through to the end and actually finished it. I’m going to put the final builds up on my website tomorrow for Windows, Mac, and Linux. THANK YOU GUYS SOOOOOOO MUCH for helping me whenever I had questions. I put in the credits under “Special Thanks”, “Everyone at JGO”. No one will know what that means but you guys (and probably no one will ever play it that far lol). But I am happy to release it on Itch and/or GameJolt for free since it’s my first big game. Here is the trailer:
I got my Itch and GameJolt pages ready to go! Any last advice before I make them live? Also can I put different builds up for windows mac and linux on game jolt or are you limited to 1? Itch lets you put up all of them but I cant figure out game jolt.
@Riven I tried to message you but it seems you no longer exist on the search. Can you move this to showcase now that it’s done?
Thank you all sooo much for helping me. Please let me know if you download it and it doesn’t work or something. Not quite sure if the Linux build will run lol. Now off to start the next one!
Damn! I thought that might happen with linux. I don’t really know what that error message means, but I think I’ll just re-upload the linux version as just a regular jar file.
The main screen has Play in white text with a yellow background. I can read the white text because it clashes with the yellow
I played a level but got stuck. A guy was throwing green things from the top right and had a bone behind him, but I could not jump past him to get the bone.
