Quicker turning it is and you can strafe with the a and d keys, raise shields by holding down the s.
Runs fine. Strafing speed adds to total speed, so I could move at double speed all the time.
Some spawn points for bigger cubes would be nice, or asteroid-style exploding ones into smaller cubes
yeah, I suggest making just the angle change depending on the direction of motion so you can make the speed the same in all directions. Also, could the camera follow the direction you’re aiming? Or purhaps have controls to turn the camera. I’d like to see what’s behind me, otherwise I pretty much have to stay at the bottom of the screen so I don’t miss anything, and that’s not very exciting.
I have some code to keep the camera behind you, like a chase camera. Will set up a switch to turn it off and on.
Not sure what I did on my strafe to cause the speed increase, will have to look that over.
Like the ideas about exploding cubes. WIll have to “enhance” the single player version.

EDIT: fixed the strafe + forward speed. Now to work on some effects and the game server for multiplay!
I have added an explosion and projectile impact effect, keeping in line with the theme and by advise from an above post.
Also, changed the camera chase method to get opinions.
Added a few more gui touches, and some general non visual enhancements.
Improved robot AI
I just played till my score got to 100 I noticed that sometimes when there’s a lot of bots on the screen, the game gets REALLY slow. Also, I picked up some extra energy and my Energy meter went from full to 1. I picked up more extra energy, and it still said 1.
thanks. Concerned about hte speed, there should never be more than 8 bots at any one time… pluse a max of 32 projectiles…I ll take a look. thanks for checkin it out.
ah much better, thats exactly how I wanted it to feel when I was first playing ;D I played for about 8 minutes and I never noticed any slowdown. Do the weapon powerups actually do anything at this point? btw, the controlls I used (and liked) were: default camera view, combination of arrow keys with ‘a’ and ‘d’.
Thanks weston. The powerups should add energy (health), shields and give additional weapons, which are chosen by numbers 1-4. Weapons have varying speed of projectiles and different damage levels. SOme projectiles ignore shields, others dont.
Fixed the energy 1 thingy. Now I need to add more prizes, and my “recharge” zone.
