Chroma Cell - Vector Shoot 'em Up

Also it’s not a problem as the user can change the default keys, but do you really think shift is a good default key for powerup? It’s very awkward. The space key seems a lot more natural.
But what was your motivation for making the spawners larger?
People were confusing them for normal enemies. I needed to make them look like something else.

There’s a mechanic in the game where the longer you keep spawners alive, the more points they give you when you kill them. In the previous version, the best strategy was to always “farm” a pink spawn point until you had 0 lives left, then use all your powerups and go snipe it. This way, you have to pay for your mistakes a little more in terms of getting a new highscore

I agree 100%, but on some keyboards, the space key conflicts with the arrow keys. On my laptop for example, if I hold up + left or right + down the space bar doesn’t work. This is a hardware problem, and it’s almost impossible to make a key setup that works on all computers, but the shift key is considered a “safe” key, and shouldn’t usually have any conflicts.

Nice work, like the glowy graphics. I think mouse-aim should be default, but very cool overall.

That’s really cool, downloading it now, I hope you don’t mind if I steal that bloom method for some of my fonts :).

Some of you might remember the post I made about my game this spring when it was in early beta.

Now it’s officially released!

It’s made in Java using OpenGL rendering through the Processing library.

It got nominated for best sound, visual style, concept and “game of the year” in this years Norwegian Game Awards but sadly did not take home any of the prizes.

Link to game on Steam Greenlight where you can download, see videos and screenshots and more!

I’m now trying to spread the word about the game, and if you wish to support me, please thumbs up it on steam greenlight so I might one day get it published for real!

Are you actually drawing the quadtree there? Wow… looks reeeeally cool!

And… processing… I have to look into that

EDIT: WHY… I need a linux verison :frowning:

Yep!

Data is beautiful!

Sorry for ninjaediting… see my edit

The reason there’s no Linux version is because… I didn’t have a Linux computer to test it on ,_,

If you send me an email at oyvindbyhring@gmail.com or send a message to this user with your email address I’ll export a Linux version and send to you. Would be nice to get it tested

It doesn’t use this much, but the guidelines for Greenlight said I had to write some “guideline system requiremens”, so I just picked a number ._.

Moderated: each game gets only 1 thread in the showcase. I merged this topic with the previous one.

Updated the OP to reflect the current state of the game.

Need this post to bump it 3 months up the list
