Alien Flux Alpha Test 3

Here’s a bug report for you: I downloaded it on a friend’s machine (WinXP, 1.8GHz Athlon, GeForce 4MX) and it worked fine, but he hated it. Can you add a multiplayer mode, convert it to first person, set it in a maze of rooms, provide different weapons and call it Quake 4 please? ;D

More seriously though, a Mad Jelly launched a ball of plasma at me at some point which didn’t move anywhere. It sat there on the spot flaming madly, and survived me dying, going back to the menu and starting a new game. It still sat there, flaming at me. I didn’t run into it, so I don’t know if it were “live”.

Without any log or anything, there’s probably not a lot you can do about tracking the bug down - probably easier to just clear all active battle zone features before starting a level or something?

I have no idea what caused it, and my only thought is that maybe I spawned in on top of a Jelly just as it fired, and it gave the shot a zero-length velocity vector?

Ooh, thanks. Yes, it must have been coz it fired when there was no direction vector - it would have been directly on top of where it thought you were. Easily fixed.

Dang that sounds fun… where’s Greg at with that Mac port :)?

Oh, one other thing… when you fly far enough out, the background disappears. But I expect you know that!

I tried it on my Athlon laptop with my crappy video card and it quits out of full screen. Must be i dont have the most up to date openGL drivers. - Or my machine sucks…Java apps don’t render well on it anyways.

[quote]seen few bugs on linux

after quitting the game, the Display & Keyboard are weirdo

you do
Keyboard.destroy();
Display.destroy();

at exit ?

I had the same problem. Apparently, quitting with the Exit button in the menu hangs AF instead. I don’t know if Cas is fixing the bug.

I’m investigating it.

Why is the OpenAL lib not included in the jar files for Webstart?

Liked the game. I could almost swear that the sound for the ship regen sounds like the start of the Cure’s song “The Walk” off thier Mixed Up album.

That’s coz it’s sampled from that very song :slight_smile: I used it in the original 1993 XAP as well.

OpenAL is included but the current version of LWJGL can’t load it from Webstart :confused: Bit of a bugger but it’s fixed now apparently. Next release…
