One game that I think I’d like to do in Java is a Final Fantasy Tactics clone that does online play.

Oh man, FFT rocks! I remembered when I first bought it, and I thought, “What is this crap?”. It only took two days of game play for me to become unrelentingly addicted.

And you’re right - FFT would make an excellent online game. And it seems like it would be so easy to do in Java, too.

It would be a good compliment to all of the click-fest RTS’s that seem to be the mainstay of “strategy gaming” nowadays.

Morrowind (and Daggerfall before it),
Elite (especially the RISC OS version- best AI ever!),
Zelda 64,
Black and White,
Age of Mythology.

I particularly like games that let you wander freely and interact with the world as you choose, which describes all the above apart from Age of Mythology, which is just the most compelling single-player rts I have played. A complete and coherent universe where you feel nothing is missing really helps me to stay interested in a game- Zelda does this very well - everything in it is perfectly balanced and is part of a puzzle.

Wow, sign me up for the FFT team. I’m having my first playthrough (spread out over several months) and it’s pretty fun. Just started Chapter 4.

Favorite console game: Judging solely by time spent, I’d have to go with the Hot Shots Golf series for PS/PS2.

Favorite PC game: I’d say the old Sierra adventure game series. Played a lot of King’s Quest and Space Quest games to single one out.

I love RPGs, but I rarely play them more than once.

What kind of online features can be put to FF Tactics?For a multiplayer FFT experience try the game “Kartia: The word of fate”, published by ATLUS.

Sent you an email. And yeah, I agree, doesn’t necessarily have to be FFT, but it would be nice to model some kind of tactical RPG. Seems to be a successful genre lately.

Now, whomever said FFT, AWESOME suggestion. I prefer Dynasty Tactics because I love Dynasty Warriors, and indeed the whole Three Kingdoms idea, but that’s just me.

yeah, the original FF Tactics was GOD, but I also loved FF VII and Vagrat Story.

Btw. Did you you know that FF Tactics Advance is multiplayer (though not online)? To be honest this game was the reason I bought a GBA.

Beside these Squaresoft games, I still love the Monkey Island Quadrilogy and I must confess I recently started playing these Pokemon games and I really like them ::).

However, I enjoy playing mmost with at least 3 other in one room on a projected display or big screen. The Mario games (Super Smash Melee Bros., Smah Football, Mario Kart, Tennis, Golf, Party, …) are sooo much fun, but the karaoke games on the PS2 are great either. Btw. are these available in the U.S. too abd how are they called? SingStar In Germany/UK…

Well, there is also another brand available at Nintendo devices (GBA + GameCube today) called Fire Emblem, which should be similiar to FF Tactics. I guess I’ll give the upcoming Wii sequel a try, since it very likely to have online play…

… I missed so much, like MGS, … but I’ll talking about these in a playing habbits thread not when asked for a fav. game :wink:

Same here… I am a big FAN of FF…

However I heard that the FF sequal is going to stop… so no more new FF games…

sad right? :’(

Final Fantasy XIII is coming for the PS3 (video) and along with this nippon style RPG, Final Fantasy Agito XIII (mobile game) and Final Fantasy Versus XIII (action game for the PS3).

All these games sum up to a whole, called Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII.

Futher, there will be Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers on the Wii and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (Nintendo DS).

And not to forget about the total remakeof Final Fantasy III for Nintendo DS, which is now in 3D !!

What I meant is … instead of new games… they are revamping it rather… some of the new FF really spoils the image of FF…

Just a comments from a friend of mine. But I totally disagree… lolz. He used my account to put the stupid FF no more games post…

Just a question… Will games place in this forum will make it in the biz world? Do you think we should compile it and publish it?

We can donate the money to charity… haha… programmers also can do their part to the community :stuck_out_tongue:

You can certainly try to compile yours. See if that works out.

In a few years, when you live on your own and have to pay the bills, you might change your mind about giving it all to charity.
