My previous game.. abandoned.

It’s called Dachon B, and is basically a j3d version of a game I made for work.

Homepage, with a nifty jnlp on the page.

It’s pretty much a normal thruster or gravity type game, except no singleplayer at all.
Some of the cooler thing in there is the collision detecion, the beanshell-enabled console and the sound engine.

I was doing this at the same time I was doing my j3d doom engine, and it was about then I realized j3d was way too slow to make anything “real” in.
In my humble opinion, of course, so you j3d zealots can drop the pitchforks.

I would post a link to the j3d doom thing, but I’m not sure about the legalities of redistributing the shareware doom1 wad file…

What people usually do is omit the wad, but provide a link to shareware Doom on the site and require the user to go get it themselves.

I for one would like at least to see some J3D Doom screenshots! Post link! ;D

Ah. So simple, yet so very smart. =D

I’ll post the links. If anyone knows that I’m breaking any laws, tell me and/or sue me, and I’ll take it down.

Stark main site (doom compatible rendering engine using memoryimagesources)
Stark J3d applet (applet using j3d. 1280x960 pixels big, so pump the screen res before going there)

Very nice! I’m not able to try the Java3D version (no Java3D installed), but the applets on the main site work great (after downloading to local - Java and IE aren’t on speaking terms on this box).

Ahh, brings back memories! ;D

Must get Java3D installed tomorrow and give that a try…

The java3D version of Stark loads fine, displays a screen where i can see the mountains and a part of the level, writes “Infinity fps” on top of the screen and i can’t figure out what to do now to get moving… ???

wow, that’s a lot of fps! :o

Clicking it and using wasd (with q and e for turning) should make it move, but… infinity fps is just not right.

It’s fairly abandoned as well though, so I won’t fix it.

I thought that too but whatever key i tried…none did anything usefull.
But then again, i finally managed to reach the heaven of computer games: Infinity fps! Maybe i’m moving so fast that time stands still… ;D

lol, probably.

Or perhaps you’re so good at doom you’re done playing it before it has even started.

Now, THAT’S some m4d sk1llz.

Nice, nice.

Both the Stark J3D Applet and Dachon B ran quite well on my Linux Laptop with about 110 FPS each.

You need to click into the applet first for it to receise key events…
